Most recent update to this story: May 10, 2012 (updated the details about Marriott room costs)
We would like to update our attendees on the current hoteling situation at Gallifrey 2013. Due to the extraordinary interest in our convention for the anniversary year, our discount room block at our host hotel, the Marriott Los Angeles Airport Hotel, was completely sold out within an hour of it being offered (including three expansions of the block and an additional contracted block we offered Tuesday), but there are still rooms available in the hotel for the standard rack rate. Meanwhile, there are also plenty of rooms available at neighboring/adjoining hotels -- in fact, most at or even below the original Gallifrey One discount rate that was available at the Marriott. If you are interested in a hotel room for the convention, we have created the following list and suggest you not delay making your reservations immediately.
Marriott Los Angeles Airport Hotel: Rooms are still available, but at the much higher rack rate of $229-259/night depending where you check (either through the Marriott's site, or through the online travel sites such as Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz, etc.) At this point, the Marriott is no longer recommended as being a good option unless you have multiple people staying in your room and can split costs. There are no rooms available at lower costs or in the original Gallifrey One discount block (they are long sold out).
Hilton LAX: $102/night. Hotel is next door to the Marriott (on the opposite side of the Marriott's parking lot and a discount lot). Rate available on the online travel sites is non-refundable, but is $120/night refundable. The Hilton has a 24-hour pizza restaurant.
Crowne Plaza Hotel: $109/night. Hotel is across Aviation Blvd. and a quarter-block down the street (but still within 5 minute walk). Many Gallifrey One attendees stayed here last year and rated it highly.
Renaissance Montura Hotel: $109/night. Immediately north of the Marriott and a very nice hotel.
Travelodge LAX: $73/night, includes free wifi by booking on the online travel sites. Down the street (east) from us on the opposite side of the Hilton; hotel also includes a Denny's restaurant adjoining. A very good option for many.
Super 8 Motel LAX: $63/night, includes free wifi by booking on the online travel sites. About a quarter mile north of the Marriott, but there is free parking.
Wingate by Wyndham LAX: $88/night. About a half mile east of the Marriott next to the I-405 freeway but very comfortable.
Holiday Inn Los Angeles Airport: $118/night. Also about a half mile east of the Marriott next to the I-405 freeway.
La Quinta Inn LAX: $79/night. Next to the Holiday Inn.
Note that these rates, and indeed the Marriott rate currently being offered, may change at any time. These are the rates available on the online travel sites as of May 5, 2013.
We've done our best to make sure there are options for you as we get back to our primary obligation: to put on a great show. Now is definitely the time to make your arrangements for this year's convention... once you see the guest list, program and everything else being planned for next February, we think you'll want to be with us, so don't delay.
Pre-registration for The 24 Hours of Gallifrey One in February 2013 is open. Full weekend membership is currently $70 through the end of July 2012 (the price increased to $70 on May 1, 2012).
This year, we are utilizing a new online registration processing company called Member Solutions. Through this new process, we can accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and bank account transactions (our old PayPal direct system is no longer in use.) As always, we invite you to check out the Registration page to get started... the page features important rules and information about pre-registration (specifically, our no-refunds policy). You can also get started with online registration at that page.
However, if you cannot or are unwilling to utilize this online system, we still accept registration by mail. To do so, click here to download our printable Pre-Registration Form and mail a check or money order to the address printed on the form.
Finally, we will no longer be publishing our entire member list online. Instead, we have a handy member search function for our members to find out if their registration has been processed (click here). Please note that it does take some time for your registration to show up in that database; it is not instantaneous.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email us. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at Gallifrey 2013.
Gallifrey One's Network 23 (Gallifrey 2012) is complete - and stands as the largest independent Doctor Who fan convention in decades! Today we want to wrap everything up and give you a preview of next year's event...
Facts and Figures: Gallifrey 2012 welcomed 3,183 attendees (including our guests and staff), the largest Gallifrey One event ever and a jump of nearly a thousand people from last year. The convention raised over $7000 for the Students Run LA charity on Sunday, including $6870 from our auction and several hundred dollars more (and still counting) from the tip jar of the TARDIS Console owners.
Post-Convention Feedback: We've heard from so many of you already that it was a successful event; the few issues from last year (autographs in particular) seem to have been solved. If you'd like to let us know what you think, we welcome your feedback via email. Alternatively, keep an eye on our Facebook page as well as the Gallifrey Base forum, plus the #gally hashtag on Twitter for people's comments and feedback. (Yes, we know we said we'd like to use #gallifreyone going forward, but Twitter has a life of its own!)
Pictures: We'd love to see your pictures of the convention! Send us email if you'd like to share them (either a link to your Flickr/Picasa/online album, or let us know you have some you'd like to send over and we'll give you an email address to mail them to!)
On-Site Photos: If you took your photo with the TARDIS console, please rest assured the guys are working through the list and should contact everyone in the next couple of days. Also, if you took a picture with Froggy's Photos with one or more of our guests and did not pick up your printed picture at the end of the convention, please email us as we have a few photos that were uncollected.

Things We Are Looking At: Before you send us suggestions or comments, rest assured we're working hard on plans for next year. With the increased traffic, we want to make certain we have plenty of room for everyone, so we're looking at new ways to move people around the facility (and hopefully keep the Daleks out of your way at the busiest moments!) We're bringing back the snack bar next year, maybe all three days, and making minor changes to speed up the autograph sessions even more (though they seem to have worked great this year!) We are looking at enhancing seating capacity in the main ballroom, expanding our Dealers Room, and alleviating some of the lines that form in the halls. Of course, if you have something you'd like to let us know about, please email us.
Our Thanks: As always, our convention never happens without tremendous hard work from our staff and volunteers, and this year we had more volunteers than ever - thank you all for your assistance. Onward to Next Year: The good news... we're gonna do it all over again...

Gallifrey One Conventions proudly announces The 24 Hours of Gallifrey One, February 15-17, 2013 at the Marriott Los Angeles Airport Hotel, our own 50th anniversary Doctor Who celebration - and likely to be the big can't-miss event of 2013. Guests will be announced starting this summer (we're working on some MAJOR headliner guests, but have to wait for a while!) Pre-registration will begin in late March 2012 at $65 for the weekend; also, hoteling information will be announced later, and likely open sometime in April or May. What can you expect? More programming and panels, tons of new guests (classic and new series... with a special focus on recent ones!), more dealers, more autograph sessions, and a 50th Anniversary celebration to knock your socks off. We are just getting started and we are going to make it the best event ever. Gallifrey 2013 will be non-stop fun, so make sure you plan to be with us for the Doctor Who anniversary celebration you won't soon forget!
