Welcome to the brand new Gallifrey One Conventions website, which will be serving us going forward. You may see gallifreyone.com up at the top, or you may see an alternate address (at our web host, A Small Orange) until everything completely refreshes for you — you should keep gallifreyone.com as your website link, however. Let us know what you think of the new web space!
In the meanwhile, we are thrilled to welcome eight brand new guests for the 2014 Gallifrey One convention, Gallifrey One: 25 Glorious Years. Three of them have been with us before, five never before. We are thrilled to welcome the following new guests for 2014:
NICOLA BRYANT played Perpugilliam “Peri” Brown opposite two Doctors, Peter Davison and Colin Baker, from 1984-1986, as the first American-born companion (even though Nicola herself is from the UK). She returned to the role of Peri for Big Finish Productions, including her tour-de-force “Peri and the Piscon Paradox” in which the character’s life story was revealed. She’s also directed audio plays and has an extensive stage repetoire. (This also means that Colin Baker, Nicola Bryant and Bonnie Langford, the principal cast of the Sixth Doctor era, are together for the first time at our convention!)
Originally cast as Susan Foreman, the Doctor’s enigmatic granddaughter, in 1963, CAROLE ANN FORD represents the very foundation of Doctor Who, as one of two surviving members of the original cast. Since then, she’s been seen in countless film and television appearances, and to this day remains an ambassador from the show’s founding team. Having had to skip 2013 due to health reasons, we are delighted to welcome her back to LA for her first visit in 12 years, courtesy Tenth Planet.
MATTHEW WATERHOUSE created the role of Adric in “Full Circle” opposite Tom Baker… a character that then stowed away in his adventures in E-Space and later joined as a full member of the TARDIS crew, opposite Lalla Ward, Janet Fielding and Sarah Sutton, and later making the transition to Peter Davison’s Doctor. Waterhouse, now a resident of New England, returns for his third visit to Gallifrey One, courtesy Tenth Planet.
British actor NABIL SHABAN is both the founder of The Graeae, a theatre group in the UK that promotes actors with disabilities, as well as the famed Doctor Who character actor who brought the venomous Sil to life opposite Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant in “Vengeance on Varos” and “Trial of a Time Lord: Mindwarp” (and later on audio in the famous ‘lost’ story “Mission to Magnus”). We are thrilled to welcome Nabil to his first Gallifrey One convention.
American actress LACHELE CARL, who works entirely in England, has appeared in all three Russell T Davies-led series — Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures — in the same role: as AMNM news anchorwoman Trinity Wells. Lachele has become a popular UK convention guest for her stories about working on all three shows, and joins us for her first US convention.
STUART MILLIGAN, also an American actor based in the UK, appeared as Richard Nixon in “The Impossible Astronaut” and “Day of the Moon” as well as Colonel Stark in the animated “Dreamland”. He was also a regular on Jonathan Creek and has appeared in several audio adventures for Big Finish Productions, and marks his first appearance in North America at Gallifrey 2014.
VELILE TSHABALALA had established herself as a regular on the BBC One series Kerching! and several UK comedy sketch variety shows before appearing as Rosita, the companion of David Morrissey’s “Doctor” in the David Tennant-helmed special “The Next Doctor”. She will be joining us at Gallifrey 2014 while working on a new film here in Los Angeles and we’re delighted to welcome her.
STEVE HUGHES directed “Closing Time,” one of the most praised episodes of Series 6 of Doctor Who starring Matt Smith, as well as the ‘prequel’ video to “Let’s Kill Hitler”. He has also directed episodes of such shows as “Casualty,” “Leonardo,” “Land Girls,” “Doctors” and “Waterloo Road” and has been a television and film writer, editor and producer. This is his first North American appearance.
We hope you’ll be with us to welcome these eight new guests to Gallifrey One in 2014. And that’s not it… we’ll have many other guest announcements during the next eight months… we’re working on some big names and many more faces and we hope to have our best guest lineup ever.
